FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about our cabins on Mt Fork River
Are the cabins on the river?
Yes we are! Our cabins have river access where you can swim, fish, and kayak.
What cabins are next door to each other?
We had a map made to show the location of each cabin. Check out the last photo of each cabin to see the map and you can see which cabins are neighboring.
Can we come earlier than the 3:00 p.m. check-in time?
Early check ins must be requested in advance. If at all possible, an earlier check in time will be given. However, if the cabin is booked the night before your arrival, it will be impossible since housekeeping will need the entire 4 hours from check in to check out to clean and prep your cabin for your arrival. Thank you for understanding!
Can we leave later than the 11:00 a.m. check out time?
Housekeeping will arrive promptly at 11 to begin cleaning. If we are able to allow a late check out, we'll be happy to! But prior arrangements must be made at least by the day before check out.
How do I check in?
Self check in! You will not check into an office. After you sign the rental agreement, an email with the address, door code, and driving directions will be sent. Please screenshot or print these.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are allowed at most of the cabins with a non-refundable pet fee per pet. There is a 2 dog limit. Cats are not allowed. They must be kept off furniture! Please check the number of dogs you'll be bringing while making your reservation. If housekeeping finds that there has been a pet in the cabin and you did not include it in your reservation, a charge will be collected and/or your security deposit retained.
What if I have to cancel?
Please get the travelers insurance. If you don't, then make your cancellation at least 30 days prior to your arrival date and 97% of your paid charges will be refunded minus a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel between 2 and 4 weeks prior to your arrival, 47% of your paid charges will be refunded minus a $75 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued if you cancel with less than 14 days prior to your check in date.
No refunds will be given for rainy weather...not something we can control so please do not ask. Medical emergencies will not be a reason for your reservation to be cancelled neither. You are responsible for purchasing travelers insurance or having a backup plan should something catastrophic happen.
We hate to tell you no, we won't refund, and we will try our best to rent the cabin to a different set of guests, but we cannot promise it will rent again and we will not change your dates or offer a refund if you are within your two week cut off.
How far are you from the lake?
We are about a 25 minute drive from Hochatown, Beaver's Bend State Park, and Broken Bow Lake.
Will firewood be provided for the fire pit?
Yes, we stock firewood for you! No need to bring your own. Some guests like to bring fire starter to make building a fire easier.
How high will the river be during my stay?
We have no way to predict the water levels. The Corps of Engineers control reregulation from the dam, which determines river levels. They post a weekly schedule from Saturday to Saturday and sometimes they actually adhere to the schedule. We usually know at 4:00 p.m. the day before how much will be released from the dam. Several factors determine the release schedule, with rain being the most determining factor.
What is the policy for parties and late night noise?
Quiet hours are between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. unless you have booked cabins next door to each other. We beg you to please be considerate of the guests in the other cabins and adhere to quiet hours. If you choose not to and a complaint is made by neighboring guests, we will call or visit and ask that you shut down your party. If that doesn't work, we will be forced to ask you to leave immediately and you will forfeit all fees and charges.
What do I need to bring?
The cabins are fully stocked! Just bring you, your clothes, your food, and your relaxing state of mind. Here is a list of must-haves and extras that you don't want to forget:
- charcoal
- River Ridge has a pellet grill so bring those if you want to use it instead of charcoal.
- lighter fluid
- fire starter
- ice
- sunscreen
- sunglasses
- insect repellant
- bottled water
- river towels
- lawn chairs to use on the river bank
- and floaties (if you want to hang out at the water) and anchors if you do not want to float downstream
- your fishing pole and all tackle (none is supplied at the cabin)
Where's the closest grocery store?
Pruett's in Broken Bow is the only grocery store in town other than Wal Mart. Please note that our Wal Mart is not a supercenter. The Idabel Wal Mart on your way in is the closest supercenter. There is also a supercenter in DeQueen, AR, if you are coming in from that direction. It takes about 15 minutes to get from the cabins to Pruett's and Walmart.
Does the kitchen have dishes, pots, and pans?
Yes! The kitchens are fully stocked with cooking utensils, plates, silverware, glasses, mugs, pots, pans, everything! However, grab paper plates and plastic cups, forks, and spoons if you don't want to do dishes (but we do have dishwashers and detergent).
Is the grill gas or charcoal?
Different cabins have different types of grills. Some have gas, some charcoal, and some have both. We supply gas, but you will need to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. Each is listed in the cabin description about which type of grill will be there.
Do the cabins have wi-fi?
Yes we do! The username and password will be posted inside the cabin in the Welcome Guide and on the fridge.
Do the TVs have satellite or cable?
Most cabins will have cable TV. Some have extremely large packages and some are basic. Some cabins have only streaming services. If this is a big deal for you, please reach out about your particular cabin and we'll be happy to let you know what's installed.
Will my cell phone have good reception?
Maybe...different carriers get better reception than others. Guests usually have great service with AT&T and pretty good service with Verizon. Some guests with other carriers have no service and must rely on wi-fi. We can't guarantee good cell service, but can't say yours won't work either.
Are there washer and dryers?
Absolutely! And detergent is provided.
Can we have our wedding here?
We would love for you to choose our cabins for your special day! While we can give you a list of trusted local services, the decorating, planning, catering, and all other wedding things will be for you to plan and organize. We do require you rent certain cabins together for events. The sister cabins that must be rented are Riverhawk and Firefly. Also, Grandview and Kingfisher must be rented together. This ensures your privacy as well protecting guests in the other cabins. Event fees are also charged in addition to the nightly rental for weddings, reunions, and other pre-approved events.
Please email, text, or call for any further questions that we have not answered above! Thank you!
